Instructions
1️⃣ Prepare the Cake Batter:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans or line them with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, spices, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with buttermilk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined. Stir in chopped pecans if using.
